A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Hello, and Welcome to Nexus.
The exact route that each child and family takes to residential treatment is unique;
however, there are certain road signs that generally mark the journey. Your child
may have exhibited emotional or have continuing issues with substance abuse, harmful
sexual behaviors, impulse-control behaviors related to developmental disability,
or developmental delay related to fetal alcohol syndrome, autism, or attention deficit
disorder.
Whatever the issue, rest assured that Nexus helps children and adolescents eliminate
the problems that have become barriers to healthy emotions and behavior. We believe
in our mission: “Changing Lives Through Our Cornerstone Values.” At Nexus, every
program incorporates our cornerstone values of honesty, responsibility, courage,
care and concern to encourage healthy, lasting change.
We also encourage youth through our strong guiding principles. We operate from a
sense of optimism for the future, and we strive to exemplify the highest ethical
and moral standards in our treatment. We collaborate to develop and support healthy
teams and partnerships, and we take a creative, adaptive, proactive approach to
our care. As community members, we listen to our customers, strive to exceed expectations,
and commit to appreciating, developing, and promoting the wise use of resources.
Nexus, a nonprofit organization, has been a leader in youth residential treatment
services for nearly 40 years. Today, our treatment locations provide unique, homelike
settings, fully licensed programming, on-site, year-round schools, and vocational
skills training (Illinois sites).
Our current locations include Mille Lacs Academy in Onamia, MN; Gerard Academy
in Austin, MN; Onarga Academy in Onarga, IL; and Indian Oaks Academy in Manteno,
IL. We also operate inpatient psychiatric units in cooperation with an Illinois
hospital, and we provide foster care, adoption, and in-home counseling services
through Family Focus in Minnesota. We are known as a national leader in treatment
services for youth who have exhibited harmful sexual behaviors, behavioral or emotional
disorders, developmental disability with harmful sexual behaviors or behavioral
disorders, or who require intensive inpatient psychiatric care.
We have been changing lives and creating brighter futures for children and families
for nearly four decades.
If your child is struggling, we can help.
