Indian Oaks Academy was opened in 1993 in response to a growing need for treatment beds in the state of Illinois. The site is located about 45 miles north of Onarga Academy in Manteno, Illinois. The buildings occupied by the Indian Oaks Academy were once part of a large state psychiatric facility on the campus. The physical plant and the treatment population have continued to changed over the years. Currently, Indian Oaks Academy has the most diverse population of any of the other Nexus sites.
