Providing Programs that Achieve High Completion and Low Recidivism Rates
Nexus programming offers proven results. More than 80 percent of the clients admitted
to Nexus sites complete programming, meeting pre-established treatment objectives
in an average length of stay ranging from 8-18 months.
All clients are diagnosed at admission according to DSM-IV criteria, and an individualized
treatment plan is created, with treatment goals tailored for functioning, special
needs, age, and history. Our Therapeutic Com¬munity Model promotes lifelong learning
through a treatment culture that occurs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Out treatment
settings provide an environment in which residents can safely practice basic social
living constructs such as identifying needs, getting needs met in a healthy fashion,
learning to identify the needs of others, and extending oneself to meet those needs.
During treatment, Nexus sites offer point-to-point videoconferencing that keeps
probation officers and referral agents up-to-date on clients’ progress. We also
work extensively with family and referral agencies to discuss treatment and aftercare
programming, which may include support or additional referrals, as needed.
After treatment, we provide monitoring, support, and additional referrals, as needed.
Our tracking data indicates that up to 67 percent of Nexus clients who successfully
complete treatment go on to enroll in school, work in a job, enroll in the military,
or participate in additional treatment in the 6 months following discharge.
