Gerard Academy Offers Scholarships for High School Students

March 3, 2008, Austin, MN—Gerard Academy, a provider of psychological, psychiatric and behavioral needs of children and adolescents, is proud to announce it will sponsor two $500 scholarships for Austin, Minnesota high school students pursing a degree in the Human Services field. The degrees included are social work, psychology, special education and counseling.

Gerard Academy Executive Director Brent Henry says, "For the past year, we have been focusing on ways to get more involved in the community. These scholarships are a small way for Gerard Academy to give back to the community—especially to kids."

To be considered for the scholarship, students must fill out the application (saved as a Word file), write an essay, and and include a copy of his/her high school transcript.

Gerard Academy, a member of the Nexus family of treatment programs, provides residential treatment for males and females ages six to their 19th birthdays. Gerard Academy has been a part of the Austin community since 1968 and now employs more than 129 people. The campus is situated on the former Hormel Estate and is led by Executive Director Brent Henry, Clinical Director Pam Retterath and Administrative Services Director Kay Stiles.
